New Delhi, March 24
With the Congress being a divided house on the issue of an alliance with his party, Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday signalled he was hopeful and was open for talks in the matter.
“Let the Congress invite me for talks. I am ready to discuss the issue,” said Kejriwal of the sidelines of a function after launching a book written in Hindi ‘Vaada Faramoshi’ which has been authored by Sanjay Basu, Neeraj Kumar and Shashi Shekhar.
When referred to a report on Congress leader and Delhi incharge PC Chacko’s statement that he would talk to party president Rahul Gandhi regarding the alliance and the issue would be decided shortly, Kejriwal said he was unaware of it.
“It is a hypothetical question,” was his response to a poser if he would withdraw AAP nominees if an alliance with the Congress materialises. AAP has already announced six nominees for the total of seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi.
The Congress is beset with contrary views with former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit strongly against an alliance. Among others, former state president Ajay Maken, backed by Chacko, are in favour.
