New Delhi, March 23
A day after PM Narendra Modi led the party in berating Sam Pitroda for his comments questioning the government’s aggressive action against Pakistan after the Pulwama attack, party chief Amit Shah on Saturday asked Congress president Rahul Gandhi to clear his stand on the issue.
Shah claimed that the Opposition party had “insulted” the martyrdom of soldiers and put a question mark on the nation’s security. Remarks such as these could not be glossed over as personal comments. The Congress has a habit of playing down such comments of its leaders as their individual opinions, but it never takes any action against them, many of whom are close to Rahul, he added.
As per Shah, the Congress was known for its “vote bank” and “appeasement” politics, but Rahul should answer whether it is above national interest and if such politics could be done in cases where the country’s sentiments are involved. Asking Rahul to apologise to the country, to the families of those killed in the Pulwama attack and armed forces for Pitroda’s remarks, he said that merely distancing himself from such “low comments” would not do.
