Jaipur: Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s son Vaibhav (pic) and BJP’s former Union Minister Jaswant Singh’s son Manvendra Singh were among 19 contestants out of 25 whose names figured in the Congress’ first list announced late on Thursday night for the poll that will be held in two phases on April 26 and May 6. Vaibhav will contest from his father Ashok Gehlot’s western citadel in Jodhpur. He will have a real contest against BJP MoS Gajendra Singh Shekhawat (a Rajput and RSS hardliner). Manvendra, who shifted to the Congress fold on the eve of state Assembly poll-2018, will contest from Barmer. In General Election 2014, Manvendra’s father Jaswant Singh was denied BJP ticket, but he contested as an Independent and lost. Jyoti Mirdha, granddaughter of late Nathu Ram Mirdha, has been re-fielded from Nagaur. oc
