The Sacred Heart Dalhousie Alumni Association (SHAA) held its alumni meet at Chandigarh Golf Association this weekend, under the flagship of its Chandigarh Chapter, led by Sarbjit Kaur. Popularly known as Dalgals, the alumni came from Mumbai, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Patiala, Delhi, Chandigarh, the UK and even Lahore.

This was the first time since the foundation of the school in Dalhousie in 1901 that such a meet was organised for the North in Chandigarh. The all-girls school and college is run by the Sisters of Charity based in Ghent, Belgium. SHAA was established in 1998. The founder and current president, Dr Parvinder Sohi Behuria, a former IRS officer, said, “All of us are full of gratitude to our school and especially the Sisters who moulded our character and taught us right from wrong.”

Over 80 alumni members attended the reunion, where the ones who had passed out 50 years ago were honoured. Rupan Deol Bajaj recalled, “The Sisters taught us to be good human beings and their teachings are engraved in our lives .” — TNS
