‘It’s the sentiment of the nation’

Singer Mohit Chauhan, the voice behind some of Bollywood’s hit songs like Kun Faya Kun, Masakkali, Ilaahi, Saiyaara and more, is all for original music. The singer though has knack for remixes but believes that sometimes it just isn’t the case.

Speaking about the same, Mohit says, “Not all songs lend themselves to remakes. Sometimes, it’s not as good and it’s a bit of an anti-climax because you’ve grown up listening to a song a certain way.” The singer addressed a few sensitive topics, including the ban on Pakistani artists, “As far as artistes from Pakistan go, the sentiments of the country were in that direction because if things are good and happy, the cultural exchange does happen. But if there’s tension, then obviously it comes down. Many a time, it’s not comfortable even for the artistes... it’s about the sentiment of the nation actually.”
