‘Boo, mein ta dargi’, the dialogue of Sardarji was made into thousands of Dubsmash videos and eventually became a part of mainstream conversation among the Punjabis.
As veteran actors of Punjabi film industry came together to announce their new venture, Boooo Mai Dargi, the title rang a bell. The film will revolve around the problems of people living in a high altitude village.
The writer, Raju Verma, tries to give a new image to the actors who have been typecast in Pollywood, which is why B.N Sharma wanted to be a part of the movie. Since the announcement day of the film coincided with the birth anniversary of Sahibjada Baba Jujhar Singh Ji, actor Yograj Singh celebrated it with the media by cutting two cakes. He says that he perceives every movie to be another job. “I credit my each achievement to the press, public and Punjabi film industry” he says as he shares the news of him winning The Star of the Millennium award at the second annual BritAsia TV Punjabi Film Awards, which was held in London.
“Almost every scene of the movie will involve the whole star cast engaging with each other,” says B.N Sharma, which indicates the burden shared by of each character to make the plot significant and entertaining. There is not only an element of suspense to keep the viewers hooked but also a message to take home. The cast has characters from all age groups with seasoned actors like Yograj Singh, BN Sharma, Anita Devgan, Parkash Gadhu and Harby Sangha, child artiste Anmol Verma while Roshan Prince and Isha Rikhli are in the lead.
The director Manjeet Singh Tony assures that the story is his take on a problem of a village, and is not a remake of any Bollywood or Pollywood movie.
