PM blasts Oppn over ‘Hindu terror’

Patna, April 2

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today attacked the grand alliance over its stand on terrorism and accused it of coining the term “Hindu atankwad” (Hindu terror) for political advantage.

Addressing a rally in Gaya, Modi said the country used to be rocked by terror attacks with alarming frequency in all corners, including Gaya, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Varanasi etc. There was a sudden drop in such incidents after May 2014.

“The change was not brought about by me. You effected that change through your vote,” he said, evoking a huge round of applause.

The government machinery remained the same, but there had been a change in the style, policies and the will of the government, he said.

“Our agencies were not lacking in ability even before we came to power. But they were not allowed to work on account of appeasement politics of the previous government. And to misdirect the probe, the bogey of Hindu terror was raised. In a case like Samjhauta Express blast, the role of Pakistan was completely brushed under the carpet,” the PM alleged.

The PM shared dais with Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and LJP chief and Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan. He wooed voters for JD-U nominee Vijay Kumar Manjhi.

Before Gaya, the PM sounded the poll bugle in Maoist-infested Jamui Lok Sabha constituency. He said a large number of youths following Maoist ideology had joined the mainstream in the past 5 years.

He said all those following the path of Naxalism would be brought back into the mainstream. The NDA government was committed to tackle both “terrorism and Naxalism” with an iron hand, he said. Slamming the mahagathbandhan (grand alliance) over its stand on Balakot airstrike, the PM said: “As Indian forces ravaged terrorist camps inside Pakistan, the Opposition demanded proofs. They acted as spokespersons for Pakistan.”

The PM urged people to give him more time to accomplish the remaining developmental work. Lok Jan Shakti Party (LJP) candidate Chirag Paswan is the NDA nominee from Jamui.
