Congress president Rahul Gandhi today said his government would provide free medical treatment and medicine to all on the lines of Rajasthan if voted to power.

“NYAY, a minimum income guarantee scheme offering Rs 72,000 per year to the poor, would prove to be a ‘diesel for the engine’ of the Indian economy,” he said during a series of rallies.

Rahul was addressing rallies at three places in support of candidates from Karauli-Dholpur (Sanjay Jatav), Churu (Rafiq Mandelia) and Jaipur-Rural (Krishna Punia), where elections will take place on May 6.

“I am not making false promises as Modi ji did of giving two crore jobs and putting Rs 15 lakh into the account of the poor. Our NYAY will be a ‘dhamaka’ in the economy. It will be a start-up for young men who want to open new trade. They will not require government permission for the first three years,” he said.

He said the Congress government, if voted to power, will fill 22 lakh government vacancies by 2020 besides giving 10 lakh jobs in the panchayati raj system.

“I promise you there will be no tax deduction from the account of the middle class. We will not spare any ‘chor’ (thief or fugitive business tycoon) who have fled the country after taking money from banks,” he said.

Rahul reiterated a separate kisan budget, boost to tourism, direct transfer of Rs 3.6 lakh to the account of the poor in five years, crop loan waiver and no punishment to defaulting farmers who have borrowed loan from banks.
