Senior BSP leader and former cabinet minister Ramveer Upadhyay has been suspended from the party for engaging in anti-party activities during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
Announcing the suspension in a press statement, BSP national general secretary Mewalal Gautam said Upadhyay had been relieved from all party posts and would not be invited to any party function.
A sitting BSP MLA from Sadabad in Hathras, the Speaker of the Vidhan Sabha has also been duly informed about Upadhyay’s suspension.
Upadhyay is said to have worked for the BJP candidates in Agra, Fatehpur Sikri and Aligarh. A photo of Upadhyay hugging the BJP Agra candidate and minister in the Yogi government, SP Singh Baghel, had gone viral on the social media some time ago, causing embarrassment to the BSP.
It is now being speculated that Upadhyay may soon join the BJP. His wife Seema Upadhyay has been a BSP MP from Fatehpur Sikri.
