Clat Possible recently held National Law School Awareness Summit-2019 in Chandigarh. It was organised in association with The Times of India and NIE. Over 700 students attended the summit. The distinguished members who presided over the summit were Satyam Shanker Sahai, chairman, Clat Possible, senior advocates Dr Surabhi Modi Sahai and Vinod Ghai, Akshay Bhan, Dr Shruti Bedi, advocate Anhad S Miglani (CLAT AIR-1) along with industry professionals and students from National Law Schools.
Jammu Tourism organises 3-day trekking expedition
To promote and keep up the adventure tourism quotient in Jammu, the Directorate of Tourism, Jammu, conducted a three-day trekking expedition (from May 3 to 5) from Sanasar to Shankpal for adventure enthusiasts and nature lovers. The group comprising 30 participants undertook a 14-km-long trek to Shankhpal and back. The Shankpal temple is located at the highest point on the Shankpal ridge at an altitude of 2,897 metres. The beautiful trek amid lush green meadows gives a 360 degree view of Udhampur, Doda, Batote, Ramban and Patnitop region.
MMDU’s BCA programme ranks sixth in country
The MM Institute of Computer Technology & Business Management (MMICT&BM) has secured 6th ranking in the category of top BCA Colleges in India 2019 by GHRDC, reaffirming that MMDU is a pioneer in courses related to computer application and technology. Established in 1999, MMICT&BM is approved by the state government and All India Council for Technical Education. At present, the institute offers BCA, MCA and Ph D programmes.
Students of Vidyapeeth, Shimla, shine in +2 exams
Vidyapeeth, Shimla, is engaged in coaching for engineering and medical entrance examinations for the past 20 years. As many as 19 students from the academy scored above 91% marks in CBSE 10+2 examination this year. Bhavya Thakur with 97.6% topped in medical/non-medical stream followed by Sparsh (96%), Aanchal Shandil (95.8%), Bhavik Fotedar (95.6%), Priyanka (95.6%), Anubhav Mehta (95.4%), Vatsal Chauhan (95%), Ipsa Thakur (95%), Chetnik Puri (94.4%), Aashna Kaushal (94%), Ridhima Sharma (92.8%) and Devanshi Chaudhary (92%) among others. Vidyapeeth director Dr Ramesh Sharma & Er Ravinder Awasthi congratulated the students for their success and wished them a bright future.
Indian Oil Corp kicks off Safety Week celebrations
IndianOil's Northern Region Office has kicked off Safety Week celebrations by observing National Fire Service Day to create awareness on fire prevention, fire protection and renew employees' commitment towards safety. The week was kick- started by administering safety pledge to all employees of IndianOil Northern Regional Office with determination to follow safety norms and keep "safety" at top. Various safety awareness events and competitions are being organised at Northern Regional Office during the safety week celebrations.
IOC crosses milestone of 1,000 patent filings
Indian Oil Corporation’s (IOC) Research & Development Centre at Faridabad has crossed a major milestone this week by filing its 1,001th patent -the first among Indian oil and gas PSUs to do so. The R&D Centre's IP (Intellectual Property) portfolio comprises 794 active patents, of which 542 patents were granted abroad and 252 in India. The Centre has also registered a healthy commercialisation rate for its patents, higher than the global average. Sanjiv Singh, chairman, IndianOil Corporation, complimented the R&D team and expressed happiness that several quality upgrade projects implemented at IndianOil's refineries for production of BS-VI fuels are based on deep desulphurisation, isomerisation and dimerisation technology patents developed in-house.
Northern Railway, RCF organise vendors’ meet
Northern Railway in association with Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala, held a vendors meet at National Rail Museum, New Delhi, on May 1. The purpose of the meet was to provide a platform for interaction with the existing and new vendors. The streamlined method of vendor registration and approval process for material supply to the Railways was explained during the meet. The conference was attended by over 200 representatives from 140 firms. Chairman, Railway Board, Member Materials Management, Railway Board, General Manager Northern Railway, officers of department of Materials Management of Northern Railway and officials of RCF, Kapurthala, were also present.

Universal Law College holds moot court contest
Over 16 teams of various colleges and universities participated in a moot court competition held at Universal Law College (ULC), Dera Bassi, recently. It was presided over by Justice MMS Bedi (retd) and members of the Bar Council of India. The best memorial trophy was won by Rayat & Bahra University, Kharar, while Agrim Sharma was adjudged as best researcher. Dr Verinder Kaur, academics director, ULC, gave away the prizes to winners.
