The name GOT is more like a term of endearment than an acronym usually kept for convenience. For the ardent fans never seem to get tired of anything remotely to do with the immensely (read insanely) popular series to ever hit the TV screens. GOT merchandise, endless conversations amidst fans, terms like GOT virgins, and, of course, GOT memes, there comes a petition (yes a petition) that demands that writers do a better job of their assignment, re-do their homework and re-shoot GOT accordingly.
After all, they want a befitting tribute to the characters that have been building up for the past seven seasons. Singers, actors, students; they all come alike to predict their version of the season eight finale.
PS: Meanwhile, you are free to rewrite the plot in your head. After all, what’ more democratic than imagination!
Lots of clues
It was only a day ago that Jon Snow tweeted, “Clues Hint, that a major GOT character is still alive.” Anyway, off the script too hasn’t given into the charms of his character?
“I think it’s going to end on a good note with Jon Snow on the iron throne with Tyrion as his hand. Arya is my favourite character—she has evolved the most in the show over the eight seasons. I think the finale will hinge upon her. She will avenge the destruction of the city by killing Daenerys. — Mehar Mandher, political strategist.
Fan theories
Then there are those heavily disappointed, especially having to say goodbye to certain characters. “I was very eager for this season of GOT as it was coming back after a break of two years and the fan theories that arose were mesmerising in themselves. Personally, I wanted Daenerys to sit on the throne from the beginning, although the previous episode put her character in negative light. I’ve witnessed her struggle since the first episode, and her agendas and motivation that drove her towards the throne. So, one bad move shouldn’t just be enough to wash away all the efforts that she’d taken to reach that place. I hope others try to understand her reasons for doing what she did in episode five and still accept her as their queen.” — Rekha Rana, actress
Roller-coaster ride
“Well, to be honest I had two-three favourite characters up until season 8 started. Things have changed drastically in this season and I think the front-runner would be Jon Snow without a doubt. He not only is a kind and fair ruler, but also has claim to the throne. This, of course, is my reading of the situation, but GOT has a knack of doing the unexpected. I’m hoping for a roller-coaster of a finale.” — Akriti Kakar, singer
Fairy tale ending
Season 8 has been lacking that soul or the X-factor that made GOT what it is. Maybe they got new writers onboard or whatever. Anyway, I want a fairy tale and typical ending for each and every character of GOT. Starting with Jon Snow, who I feel should be on the throne and yes, with Tyrian by his side. —Shruti Mahajan, B.comm student
