While Aparna and Devender Dhawan were living separate lives, it was their common and close friend who foresaw the connection between them even before they did. They met eight years ago at a party and they still confess their love for partying, but together as a couple.
Story begins
Aparna I first met him eight years ago in a party through a mutual friend, Manisha. Though I found him smart and good looking but the love for him grew over the years.
Devender The meeting was planned, I told Manisha to bring Appy along. Manisha was the matchmaker who once mentioned her in a casual conversation that how we both would be perfect for each other.
Love evolved with time
Aparna The love and respect was there from the beginning. There is no such thing that we started loving each from a particular date. But, we started behaving like a couple, from talking on phone for long hours to finding reasons to see each other daily. We took really long to confess our love but deep inside we knew that we have feelings for each other.
Devender It was love at first sight but I never confessed. I knew though that she loved me too which is why we saw each other daily and started taking care of little things. We both never said it but our hearts knew.
Getting hitched
Aparna It is something very few know in our family. One night, I called him and asked if he wanted to marry me. He was shocked as he never thought me to be the type who would ask that question first. I asked him again and he said yes. Then I told him to propose to me in the middle of the road with a ring which I thought he was not capable of but he did. That made me fall for him all over again
Devender For me, the wedding bells started ringing the day I laid my eyes on her. It was her or no one. So, like any one woman man would do, I patiently waited for her to get mentally prepared for marriage, but to my surprise one fine night, she really asked me to propose to her for marriage. I was ready for it the very next day like I have been preparing for this for all my life.
Living together
Aparna Life is better ever since we got married. What else will I want? If I have a partner that cares about me, pampers me and even handle my mood swings. That is what makes a marriage work, we accept each other for the better and for worse. Earlier, I lived in a hostel and missed my family but now, life seems happy and complete with him beside me every morning when I wake up.
Devender Life is one hundred per cent better and there is no doubt about it. At first, I thought it would not be easy to handle someone who has a strong personality and opinionated too. But, she managed everything like a pro. Aparna is full of life. She made me a better human being.
Changes here and there
Aparna Living together made us accept each other’s flaws effectively. We both are a working couple so we divide out daily household work. Sometimes he cooks breakfast while I get ready and some days I drop him at work.
Devender Appy fits in the family like a missing piece of the puzzle. She does her daily chores, manages her work well and still have the energy to party hard with friends. Giving space to each other is also necessary. She allows me to have some fun with my friends.
Loving each day
Aparna Dev’s mom gets all the credit for that. She made him to be the man who respects women. When I come back home after work, he makes me a cup of tea because he knows it is something I need.
Devender Her extremely positive attitude towards everything. You will never see her sitting tired or lazy. She never loses hope and will fight for what she wants or loves, no matter what.
If I could change
Aparna I would not change a thing in him. Dev’s imperfections make me love him even more.
Devender I never asked her to change and this is one of the reasons she loves me.
Annoying yet loving habit
Aparna He annoys me by calling different names. Also, he always sleeps before me but I love watching him sleep just to wake him up.
Devender I act like I am annoyed when she wakes me up, which I am not.
Wow factor
Aparna We are friends before lovers and we do things together like party, work out.
Devender She forgot to tell you that we drink together as well.
Couple goals
Aparna I am a foodie and trying out different cuisines.
Devender I want to travel and try out all the adventure sports with her.
