Lucknow: Independent MLA and former Minister Raghuraj Pratap Singh aka Raja Bhaiyya will be put under house arrest on Monday when polling takes place in Kunda which comes under the Kaushambhi Lok Sabha seat in UP. Seven other ‘influential’ leaders of the area will also be put under house arrest, EC sources said. These include Vinod Saroj, MLA from Babaganj and SP leaders Gulshan Yadav and Chavinath Yadav. Raja Bhaiyya is known to be a mafia don and is presently in his sixth term as a legislator. He wields considerable influence in Pratapgarh and neighbouring districts. IANS
BJP has most candidates with criminal cases in Delhi
New Delhi: The BJP has the most number of candidates with declared criminal cases contesting the Lok Sabha polls in the national capital, followed by the AAP. The seven LS constituencies of Delhi, which will go to polls on May 12 in the sixth phase, will see a triangular contest between the BJP, AAP and the Congress. Three of BJP’s seven candidates and two AAP contestants have declared criminal cases. The Congress has named only one candidate with declared criminal cases. Chandni Chowk, New Delhi and North West Lok Sabha seats will see a contest between candidates with no declared criminal cases. IANS
