The BJP retained its three Lok Sabha seats in Jammu and Kashmir, while PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti suffered a humiliating loss in her hitherto south Kashmir bastion.
National Conference’s Farooq Abdullah (Srinagar) and Mohd Akbar Lone (Baramulla), and BJP’s Jitendra Singh (Udhampur), Jugal Kishore (Jammu) and Jamyang Tsering (Ladakh) made it to the 17th Lok Sabha.
The biggest electoral upset in the state was witnessed in Anantnag with NC candidate and former High Court judge Hasnain Masoodi defeating former CM Mehbooba Mufti by 6,676 votes. — TNS/PTI
