Kolkata: Actor-singer Ruma Guha Thakurta, who impressed the audiences with her performance in Bengali films like 'Ganga', 'Balika Badhu' and '36 Chowringhee Lane', died in sleep early Monday aged 84. Thakurta, the first wife of versatile actor-singer Kishore Kumar, is survived by two sons, including singer Amit Kumar, and a daughter. Thakurta was the niece of film legend Satyajit Ray. TNS
CAG Mehrishi elected WHO External Auditor
New Delhi: Comptroller and Auditor General of India Rajiv Mehrishi has been elected the External Auditor of the World Health Organisation (WHO) for four years (2020-2023) at its 72nd Assembly at Geneva. He secured a majority of 90 of the 162 votes in the first round with contenders from Congo, France, Ghana, Tunisia, and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, a CAG release said.
