Putting aside all rules, the UP police during routine vehicle checks are making young men keep their hands up at gunpoint while other policemen conduct a physical frisking
An alarming video that has gone viral on the social media shows one such incident of Wazirganj in Badaun. “Raise your hands. Open your legs. If you lower your hands, you’ll be shot. Then don’t say you were shot. Who will put on your helmet? You will be shot,” a policeman is heard shouting in the video.
Defending the police action, Badaun SSP Ashok Kumar Tripathi said earlier there had been incidents where people of criminal mentality had fired at the police during vehicle checking.
“We have suffered casualties due to such incidents that is why a tactical technique is being used”, the SSP said.
Hitting out at the police, two-time Badaun MP Dharmendra Yadav said treating law-abiding citizens like criminals was deplorable.
