Gujarat to release industrial waste water into high seas

Ahmedabad: The Gujarat government has decided to release industrial effluents in the deep seas. Chief Minister Vijay Rupani told mediapersons on Wednesday that a draft plan for a pipeline project to carry the waste water from the industrial estates in Vadodara, Ahmedabad and Jetpur in Rajkot district was ready and was expected to be implemented soon. The project in keeping with the orders of the National Green Tribunal to spare rivers in the state from being polluted by industrial wastes would cost about Rs 2,500 crore. He said 30 per cent of the project cost would be provided by the beneficiary industrial units and 70 per cent by the state government. TNS

Man builds bridge with PF savings in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Frustrated with years of government apathy, a retired employee of the Veterinary Department has invested his savings in completing a half-finished bridge over Salandi river in Odisha’s Keonjhar district. Gangadhar Rout, who has already spent around Rs 10 lakh on the bridge, plans to spend Rs 2 lakh more on its completion by June-end or July.  “When I saw the villagers’ problems, I decided to spend my PF to complete the bridge,” Rout said.  ians
