A meeting supposedly called to discuss the future of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya on Monday took a different turn when Ramjanam Bhoomi Nyas president Mahant Nrityagopal Das suggested posting “Jai Shri Ram” written post cards to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Das was clearly responding to the Mamata’s reservation about chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’ which, she has said, was “being done by BJP for political reasons”.
Speaking at the meeting, Vishva Hindu Parishad vice-president Champat Rai said he had had over a dozen meetings with now Union Home Minister Amit Shah in this regard.
“With a firm hand, Shah would use NRC to get rid of those indulging in ‘Islamisation’,” claimed Rai. He also assured the mahants and saints that they may not have to wait too long for a Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
