Faridabad, July 31
It was a spectacle, the villagers of Sadpura in Faridabad had never witnessed before. A 60-year-old man, getting off a chopper on a dusty make-shift landing arena. It was not a VIP landing but a Class IV employee of a school who descended from the chopper.
Kure Ram had decided to retire in style as his family booked a chopper to fly him home from the Neemka government school, located barely two kilometers away, where he worked for 40 years.
As Kure Ram alighted from the helicopter, he got a rousing welcome in his village. Not only his family members, but many from the village converged at the make-shift helipad to greet him.
Shiv Kumar, Sarpanch of Sadpura, who is the younger brother of Kure Ram said that it was his brother’s idea to hire the chopper on his retirement day. The family, including three sons of Kure Ram, contributed Rs 3.30 lakh to book the joy ride for the entire family on the occasion. The family has no agricultural land.
