Indore: An organisation of food manufacturers here in Madhya Pradesh is mulling to seek the Geographical Indication (GI) tag for the famous ‘Indori poha’ and three other popular food items from Malwa region. The ‘Indori poha’, a breakfast staple made from flattened rice flakes, ‘doodh se bani shikanji’ (milk-based sweet drink), ‘laung sev’ (a clove-flavoured snack) and ‘khatta meetha namkeen’ (sweet and sour dry snack) from Malwa region are quite a hit among locals and food connoisseurs across the country. Ban ‘anti-national’ TikTok: RSS affiliate
New Delhi: A Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh affiliate requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday to ban TikTok and Helo, claiming that these two Chinese social media applications had become a hub for “anti-national” content. In a letter to Modi, Swadeshi Jagran Manch (SJM) co-convener Ashwani Mahajan highlighted the organisation’s concerns over the two platforms, which he alleged were exposing India’s youth to being influenced by “vested interests”. Chef Khanna’s debut film screened at UN
United Nations: Michelin-Star chef Vikas Khanna’s directorial debut ‘The Last Color’, starring Neena Gupta, was screened at the UN headquarters here, with the aim to highlight the message of women empowerment. Set in Varanasi, the film is the story of 70-year-old widow Noor, played by Gupta, and her bond with 9-year old Chhoti (Aqsa Siddiqui), a homeless girl aspiring to go to school and makes ends meet by performing stunts as a tight-rope walker and selling flowers. New Delhi: Beleaguered businessman Vijay Mallya has been subjected to heavy trolling by users on the internet after West Indies batsman Chris Gayle posted a picture with him on Twitter. Gayle was a team-member of IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore — owned by Mallya. “For all those of you losers who call me CHOR (sic), ask your own banks to take their full money that I am offering for the past one year. Then decide on who is CHOR,” Mallya replied to trolls. IANS
