Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar and Congress member Anand Sharma on Thursday exchanged barbs in the Rajya Sabha on political developments in Karnataka and Goa, evincing intervention by House Chairman Venkaiah Naidu to restore order. CJI wants HC judges to retire at 65: Prasad
The CJI has sent a proposal to increase the retirement age of HC judges to reduce pendency of cases, Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad told Rajya Sabha. The minister, however, did not respond in either yes or no to a question on “whether the government is considering raising the retirement age of judges”. A constitutional amendment Bill moved by the UPA government in the LS to increase the retirement age of judges from 62 to 65 years had lapsed as it never came up for discussion or voting. PTI
