Tejas fuel tank falls in Coimbatore farm

CHENNAI: An additional fuel tank of Tejas, a light combat aircraft (LCA) which was on a regular sortie, fell down on a farm land close to Sulur Air Base near Coimbatore on Tuesday morning, said an official. The fall resulted in a small crater, but nobody was injured on the ground and the aircraft landed safely at the airbase. The cause of the incident will be probed, an official said. IANS

Hyderabad airport launches face recognition

Hyderabad: The Rajiv Gandhi International Airport here has initiated Face Recognition system on a trial basis for passengers for entry into the aerodrome. The trial, being carried out under the Centre’s Digi Yatra programme, started from July 1 and would continue till July 31, officials said, adding that over 180 passengers enrolled voluntarily for the trials. Dead man wakes up just ahead of burial

Lucknow: His body was about to be buried when family members noticed movement. The mourning stopped and a bewildered family rushed Mohd Furqan to hospital, where he was put on ventilator. The 20-year-old was admitted to a private hospital on June 21 after an accident. He was declared dead on Monday. Chief Medical Officer Narendra Agarwal said, “We will hold a probe.” The patient is in critical condition but definitely not brain dead, a doctor said. IANS

Govt: Looking into water, food overpricing

New Delhi: The government is seriously looking into complaints of bottled water and packaged foods and drinks being sold at prices higher than the maximum retail price, Consumer Affairs Minister Ram Vilas Paswan said on Tuesday. He was responding to a question on whether the government was aware about bottled water and packaged food and drinks being sold at prices higher than MRP at public places like railway stations, airports, hotels and multiplexes.
