Lucknow, July 3

Facing criticism for alleged mis-governance, the Uttar Pradesh Government has decided to act against around 600 government employees for laxity and corruption.

The decision came during a series of review meetings that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has been taking since the Lok Sabha poll process got over.

During the meetings, CM Yogi repeatedly stressed that lax and corrupt officials have no place in his government and that they should be given voluntary retirement at the earliest.

He has already directed to prepare a list of officials having questionable work record. Sources say the government has already sent a list of over 200 tainted officials to the Centre, recommending for their early retirement.

On its own, the state has recommended strict departmental action against 400 other officials. The government is likely to recommend no future promotions for employees not found up to the mark besides their immediate transfers.

Cabinet minister and government spokesperson Shrikant Sharma said, “This is for the first time that the government has initiated action against 600 corrupt officials and the decision will prove to be a game changer.”
