Cutting across party lines, politicians from across different parties have condoled the death of former Union Minister Sushma Swaraj, who is also known as ‘Chinnamma’ (mother’s younger sister) for her support as an opposition leader in the creation of Telangana state in 2014.
“Please remember the contribution of not just that Amma (Sonia Gandhi) but also this Chinnamma in achieving Telangana state,” she had told people of Telangana soon after the Parliament passed Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014.
Several political leaders, including Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and BJP leader Bandaru Dattatreya condoled her death. In his condolence message, Rao praised Swaraj’s services to the nation in different capacities. Dattatreya, said she along with late Atal Bihari Vajpayee were strong supporters of an independent Telangana and she never left an opportunity to raise her voice for an independent Telangana.
