Rlys to mark October 2 as ‘Community Day’  

New Delhi: The Railways will mark Mahatma Gandhi's 150th birth anniversary as “Community Day”, according to an action plan of the Railway Board that also includes “shramdaan” by officials and an exhibition titled “From Mohan Das to Mahatma”. In a set of instructions issued to all railway zones, the board has listed a slew of activities that they have to undertake in run-up to October 2.  PTI

AI to fly Delhi-San Francisco over North Pole  

Mumbai: Marking a new aviation milestone, the Air India on Monday announced its inaugural passenger flight (New Delhi to San Francisco) over the North Pole region from August 15. With the new route, the flight duration would reduce by around one-and-a-half hours and fuel savings would be in the range of 2,000 to 7,000 kg per flight, according to an Air India spokesperson.
