New Delhi, August 13
A Delhi court today cancelled the bail of three Uttar Pradesh police officials and sent them into custody for allegedly framing and murdering the father of Unnao rape survivor.
District Judge Dharmesh Sharma passed the order. Earlier in the day, the court framed charges against expelled BJP MLA Kuldeep Sengar and others for the alleged murder of the rape survivor’s father in judicial custody.
The court also framed charges against Sengar and others for allegedly assaulting and framing him in the Arms Act case in 2018. Charges have been framed against 10 accused.
The Supreme Court, meanwhile, today refused to direct the Uttar Pradesh Government to file a report regarding the status of 20 cases registered against the Unnao rape survivor and her family members. A Bench comprising Justices Deepak Gupta and BR Gavai said they didn’t want to widen the scope and interfere in other cases lodged against them in the state.
The apex court was told by an advocate appearing in the case that proceedings in the four cases, which were transferred to Delhi, were going on before a special court here on a day-to-day basis. — PTI
