The Akhil Bharatiya Sant Samiti and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad today revived the issue of “reconstruction of temples broken during the 1990s in Jammu and Kashmir”. They also demanded the control of around “four lakh” state-administered temples so that their earnings can be used for meaningful purposes like education and health of the local people.
Two days after Parliament cleared the BJP-led government's decisions on Jammu and Kashmir, Swami Jeetendranand Saraswati said the issue of “435 temples broken during the 1990s in the state” will be discussed in the upcoming conference of saints on August 10 in Delhi. Besides, the meeting will also discuss the issue regarding why no case was registered against those who were responsible for it.
The modalities of construction of Ram Temple at Ayodhya, the Sabrimala issue, Ram Setu and a law against religious conversions are among matters that will be discussed during the meeting.
