Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Government on Monday suspended IAS officer Sriram Venkitaraman, two days after he was arrested on charges of driving a car in an intoxicated state and fatally knocking down a journalist here. “The government views the matter seriously and accordingly Sriram V, IAS (KL 2013) is placed under suspension with immediate effect under Rule 3(3) of the All India Services (Discipline & Appeal) Rules, 1969,” the Chief Secretary’s order said. SpiceJet pilot suspended for overshooting runway
New Delhi: Aviation regulator DGCA on Monday suspended a SpiceJet pilot for one year for overshooting runway while landing at the Shirdi airport on April 29, sources said. The regulator observed that the B737 aircraft, which was being flown by Captain Ashish Jayaswal, touched down at approximately 5,300 feet from runway threshold — point that denotes the beginning of the runway — at the Shirdi airport, they said.
