Lucknow, August 26
Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Monday launched a frontal attack on the BJP-led Central government accusing it of giving a new definition to democracy by misusing agencies like the Enforcement Directorate and Income Tax Department.
“One should learn institutional control from the BJP. No government has done it earlier. The ED, CBI and fear — this is new democracy,” he remarked.
He alleged that even in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was creating a strange kind of fear among the people by getting even the Chief Minister’s secretariat, Lok Bhawan, bulletproof.
Speaking to mediapersons, the former Chief Minister said the law and order situation as well as corruption in the state had reached a nadir.
“Murders, rapes, loot and other heinous crimes are rapidly increasing, while the state government is indulging in fake encounters in the name of improving the law and order situation,” said Yadav.
He cited an example of the accused in the Bulandshahr inspector’s mob lynching being given a hero’s welcome on being released on bail.
He quoted another incident of Etah where the police allegedly molested a woman by threatening to get her husband killed in a fake encounter.
According to Yadav, jobs were nowhere, unemployment had increased and rupee had sunk against the dollar.
He pointed out that during the investment summit, it was claimed that 70 lakh jobs would be created, but there is nothing on ground.
On the recent reshuffle of ministers, Yadav said after giving a free hand to corruption during the past two-and-a-half years, the CM had changed some portfolios claiming that now there would be zero tolerance against corruption.
Later, former BSP minister from Ballia Bhura Ram and members of the Phoolan Sena also joined the Samajwadi Party.
