Leh: Skillful hands have been adroitly removing graffiti to reveal original beauty of age-old murals in 17th century-era Leh Palace in Ladakh as part of a restoration work currently underway at the monument. Maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), the palace murals are made of natural colours, which is one of the reasons these survived the ravages of time. These depict Buddhist symbols like the spinning wheel, flowers and other religious motifs. PTI
Property given by Jinnah for charity grabbed
Lahore: Properties worth billions in Lahore donated by Pakistan's founder Mohammad Ali Jinnah, his sister Fatima Jinnah and first PM Liaqat Ali Khan for charitable purposes have been taken over by illegal occupants, reports said on Sunday. The Anti-Corruption Establishment, Lahore region, has taken notice of the encroachment and asked for a report from the local revenue officials, English daily The News reported. The properties are in Gulberg municipal area of Lahore city district. IANS
Dog on runway aborts AirAsia flight take-off
New Delhi: An AirAsia India flight to Delhi had to abort its take-off on Sunday morning at Goa airport after a dog entered the runway when the plane was readying to depart, said a senior official of Airports Authority of India. Flight I5778 was set to depart around 8.25 am, the official said. The dog, once spotted, was immediately removed from the runway. The flight then departed at around 9.15 am. The ATC at Goa airport is run by the Indian Navy. A spokesperson said steps had been taken proactively to relocate dogs from vicinity of runway. PTI
