At least eight persons, mostly labourers working in a brick kiln, were killed and 21 others injured when a private bus carrying them rammed into a trailer from the rear at Lamana village, 20 km from Ajmer, today.
The deceased included four women, three men and a boy, SHO Mangaliwas Thana Ramchandra Kumawat told The Tribune.
The injured were shifted to Ajmer and Bewar’s government hospitals. The video coach bus carrying around 80 passengers was on its way from Jaipur to Gujarat when it rammed into the trailer at around 4 pm. Gas cutters were used to remove bodies and injured persons from the mangled remains of the bus.
Most of the passengers were from Bareilly and had arrived in Jaipur and boarded the ill-fated bus for their onward journey to Gujarat.
The deceased were yet to be identified, the SHO said, adding the bodies were sent to a mortuary in Ajmer.
