After giving nod to putting in place real-time intelligence sharing setup NATGRID as early as possible, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has called a two-day meeting of the chiefs of ATS (anti-terrorism squad) on October 14-15 to work out a new anti-terror framework.
Sources in the government said given the kind of inputs, which are being received of late, particularly after the Centre’s decision to scrap the special status accorded to Jammu & Kashmir under Article 370 of the Constitution and also re-organising the state into two Union territories — J&K and Ladakh —the Home Minister decided to call a meeting of the chiefs of ATS to discuss and find a way to bring in a centrally controlled framework against possible acts of terrorism.
Central anti-terror probe agency NIA has been assigned to organise the meeting and call chiefs of anti-terror squads working under state governments, sources said, adding that they had also been asked to come up with ideas to help build the desired framework.
National Security Adviser Ajit Doval will also be present in the meeting, as senior officials of the MHA, IB and RAW have been asked to attend it. Even senior representatives of the Army will also attend meeting because there are certain inputs of the military intelligence that need to be looked into.
