New Delhi, October 24
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Saudi Arabia next week to scout for investments as India encounters a sustained period of economic slowdown. However, PM Modi decided not to go to Turkey after it disagreed with the Indian position on the lockdown in Kashmir. He has also skipped the Non-Aligned Summit.
The PM’s main event is to attend the Future Investment Initiative (FII) Forum in Riyadh, where apart from delivering the keynote address, he will hold talks with Saudi Arabia King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on defence and investment-related issues, MEA’s Secretary (Economic Affairs) TS Tirumurti told mediapersons here today. Called “Davos in the Desert”, the third edition of the FII is a marquee event for nations and corporates eyeing Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund. — TNS
