Record 4.1l diyas light up Ayodhya

A world record was made on Diwali eve when 4.10 lakh earthen lamps lit on the ghats of river Saryu in Ayodhya dazzled a large number of spectators.

While the joint effort of the Department of Tourism and the Ayodhya-based Dr Ram Manohar Lohiya Awadh University fell short of the targeted 5.51 lakh diyas. The number was not enough to find a place in the Guinness Book of Record.

On Saturday, the last years’ record of lighting three lakh one thousand and hundred diyas on the same occasion on Saryu ghat was broken.

Under the CM Yogi led BJP government, Deepotsav at Ayodhya on the eve of Diwali has become a major attraction now getting the status of a state mela.

Deputy Speaker and Minister of Parliament of Fiji Veena Bhatnagar was the chief guest at the function in Ayodhya where CM Yogi also announced development projects worth Rs 226 crore.
