Patna: In a tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birth anniversary on October 31, the Indian Railways has dedicated a Jan Shatabdi Express to him. The express train running on the Muzaffarpur-Ahemdabad-Muzaffarpur route will be painted with events connected with Sardar Patel. “Sardar Patel unified our country and this will be depicted in the plastic-coded paintings on the new LHB rake. The passengers will get the information about him. All the pictures will be in a chronological order, depicting his life journey and achievements,” said Rajesh Kumar, chief public relations officer, East Central Railway zone. IANS
MP woman scales Kilimanjaro in under 8 hrs
Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh-based mountaineer Bhawna Dehariya on Sunday hoisted the Tricolour on Mount Kilimanjaro’s Uhuru peak in Tanzania on the occasion of Diwali to spread the message of celebrating the festival of lights in an eco-friendly way and to reduce individual use of plastic. At 5,895 m, Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa. Dr Rajesh Tripathi, Dehariya’s mentor and chairman of the All-India Council of Physical Education, claimed the scaling of the peak in such a short time, of seven hours and 43 minutes, is a record by an Indian woman. Maha BJP chief to gift sarees to women
Pune: Maharashtra BJP chief and state minister Chandrakant Patil, who won from Kothrud in Pune district in the just concluded Assembly polls, has decided to distribute sarees to women in his constituency as a “Bhau- beej” gift. Patil, who was earlier termed as an “outsider” by his rivals since he hails from Kolhapur district, won from Kothrud by defeating MNS candidate Kishor Shinde by over 25,000 votes in the state Assembly elections held last week.
