Undeterred by its poor performance in the last parliamentary election in which it failed to open an account in Delhi, the AAP has decided to go solo in the coming Assembly elections despite a pitch for unity by a large section of non-BJP parties.

Emboldened by BJP’s below-par performance in the just-concluded Assembly elections in Maharashtra and Haryana, many non-BJP parties want AAP to come together to defeat the BJP and consequently build a momentum against it in national politics.

“AAP will contest the Assembly elections alone…The party is strong in Delhi and it will defeat the BJP alone,” said AAP Rajya Sabha MP and member of Political Affairs Committee (PAC) Sushil Gupta today.

Gupta said, “The party is above the charges of corruption and caste and religion- based politics. The BJP is discredited and the Congress is fast losing its base. The Congress does not have a base in Delhi. In Haryana, the BJP has been exposed as it failed to achieve “75+” target and aligned with JJP though both parties criticised each other during campaigning.”
