‘Bulbul’ query lightens sombre mood

Rajya Sabha Chairman Venkaiah Naidu's quizzical poser to TMC members to explain what was "Bulbul" when they mentioned the recent cyclone in West Bengal evoked laughter and smiles in the House. Raising the issue of damage to property caused by "Bulbul" in West Bengal during Zero Hour, Manas Ranjan Bunia and his party colleague Mohammad Nadimul Haq demanded financial help to the state from the Centre. On the conclusion of their demands, Naidu wanted to know as to what "Bulbul" was. This came in the backdrop of the seriousness and heaviness that prevailed in the House over the issue of SPG withdrawal. Bhunia explained that "Bulbul" was the name of a cyclone, to which Naidu made no observation. This led to another burst of laughter among members. TNS
