Indian wrestlers win 6 gold in U-15 Asian Championships

New Delhi: The Indian wrestlers continued to shine at the Under-15 Asian Championships in Taichung, Chinese Taipei, as they bagged six gold medals. The Indian contingent now has a total of eight gold medals after beginning their campaign with a couple of gold yesterday. Komal (39kg), Saloni (33kg) and Babli (36kg) finish on the top podium today. Akash beat Daiki Ogawa (8-3) of Japan in the 48kg category. Debutant Udit Kumar brought home the silver in the 57kg category to add to the bronze he won earlier in the year at the Cadet World Championships.  With Kapil too winning a bronze in the 52kg category, all the six Indian freestyle wrestlers in the squad have won a medal each.

Haryana juniors win mixed team trap title

Rajasthan’s Manavaditya Singh Rathore won his third gold at the Shotgun Nationals, partnering Anushka Singh Bhati to claim the mixed team trap title. Anushka and Manavaditya got the better of MP’s Priyanshu Pandey and Manisha Keer 3-2 in a shoot-off after both the pairs were locked at 37 after the regulation 50 shots. Haryana won the junior mixed team trap competition when Bhowneesh Mendiratta and Kiran outgunned Delhi’s Kabir Sharma and Kirti Gupta 47-40.— Agencies

Lahiri satges comeback, makes cut at RSM Classic    

India's Anirban Lahiri staged a superb comeback with four birdies in five holes to make the cut at the RSM Classic here. With rounds of 71 and 67, Lahiri is tied-59th while his compatriot Arjun Atwal, who shot 71 each in the first two rounds, missed the cut. Lahiri, who shot 1-under on the first day, dropped a bogey on his first hole. A birdie on 14th brought him back to even for the day. The 32-year-old then shot birdies on the fourth, fifth, seventh and eighth holes. He dropped a shot on the ninth but survived the cut. Tyler Duncan shot a 9-under 61 including seven birdies and an eagle for his best score on the PGA Tour.

Brazen Chinese marathon cheat jumps on bicycle

Two people were banned for life for cheating at the Shanghai International Marathon, including one who hopped on a bicycle, organisers and Chinese media said. The woman, identified by the surname Zhao, "seriously disturbed the order of the race", marathon organisers said in a statement. She was handed a life ban from the Shanghai and other marathons, as was a male accomplice because he "participated in the whole process and did not stop it from happening".

Kawhi Leonard hit a go-ahead jumper with 15.4 seconds, lifting host Los Angeles over Houston in a thriller. Clippers guard Lou Williams scored all 26 of his points in the second half. James Harden had 37 points, 12 assists and eight rebounds for the Rockets, who dropped their second straight after an eight-game winning streak. While, Anthony Davis scored 33 points, including his first career four-point play late in the fourth quarter, and LeBron James added 23 points and 14 assists as visiting Los Angeles held off Oklahoma City.
