New Delhi: The SC on Friday refused to allow Jharkhand ex-CM Madhu Koda to fight upcoming Assembly polls in the state. The EC had disqualified Koda for three years in September 2017 for failing to file details of expenses of 2009 LS polls. Koda had challenged the order in the SC. “You yourself are responsible for the delay. You should wait for another year,” the SC said. PTI
Schoolkid falls into sambar vessel, dies
Amaravati: A six-year-old boy, Purushottam Reddy, died after falling into a vessel with steaming sambar in a private school in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh. Education and police authorities found alleged negligence and violations on the part of the school management for the horrific death that took place on Wednesday. Managing director Vijaya Kumar Reddy and correspondent Nagamalleswara Reddy were arrested, the police said. PTI
Reviving 10 rivers in UP, Yogi tells NITI Aayog
Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath told NITI Aayog that his government was reviving at least 10 rivers in the state. The CM held a meeting with NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Rajiv Kumar on Friday and explained to him the development work the state government was carrying out to tackle the water crisis, a government spokesman said. The revival work is being carried out through various schemes involving people, like the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act , he said. IANS
BJP worker's body found hanging from tree in WB
Kolkata: The body of a BJP worker was on Friday found hanging from a tree in Danton village of West Medinipur district in West Bengal. While the BJP blamed the ruling Trinamool Congress for the "murder", the latter claimed that it was a case of suicide. Barsha Hansda (38) had taken part in a picnic organised by the local BJP workers on Thursday. He did not return home in the evening and his body was found in the morning dangling from the tree with a rope tied around the neck. TNS
