Veteran journalist MB Lal dies at 90

New Delhi, November 2 

Veteran journalist MB Lal passed away today after brief illness. He was 90 and is survived by his wife and three children. Lal initially worked for The Tribune at Ambala before joining The Statesman, where he headed Chandigarh and Lucknow Bureaus.

He received an MA in English from Allahabad University and later studied journalism at Hislop College in Nagpur in the early 1950s. After retirement, he wrote several books and also invented a low-cost ice-based air conditioner. He was also awarded a research grant by the government in the 1980s for the project.
