18 serving, former lawmakers face CBI cases

The CBI has registered 14 cases of economic offences against 18 serving and former lawmakers, Minister of State for Finance Anurag Singh Thakur informed the Lok Sabha on Monday. “Out of these 18 persons, two are sitting Members of Parliament; nine former MPs; five Members of Legislative Assemblies and two former Members of Legislative Assemblies,” he said in a written reply. Directorate of Enforcement (ED) has registered 82 cases against the public representatives across the country, he said. PTI

Over 13K cr sanctioned for ports’ upgrade

Projects worth Rs 13,000 crore have been awarded for the upgradation of major ports over the past three years, Parliament was informed on Monday. Minister of State for Shipping and Chemicals & Fertilizers Mansukh Mandaviya said the funds were allotted to projects pertaining to construction of new berths/harbours and terminals, mechanization of existing berths/harbours and terminals, capital dredging for deepening of drafts for attracting large vessels, developing of road and rail connectivity etc. PTI

138 ‘Must See Monuments’ indentified

The ASI has identified 138 monuments as “Must See Monuments”, Minister of State for Culture and Tourism Prahlad Patel informed Parliament on Monday. Responding to a query in the Lok Sabha, Patel said the information has been made available on the "Must See" portal of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). The "Must See" list features outstanding Indian monuments and archaeological sites, under the protection of the ASI, including those that feature on UNESCO's World Heritage List. PTI

Over 10L cr loans sanctioned under MUDRA Yojana

The government on Monday said more than Rs 10 lakh crore have been disbursed under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana till November 1, 2019. The PMMY is a scheme launched by the Prime Minister on April 8, 2015, for providing loans up to Rs 10 lakh to non-corporate, non-farm small/micro enterprises. “Under the Yojana, 20.84 crore loan accounts totalling an amount of Rs 10.24 lakh crore have been sanctioned up to November 1, 2019,” Minister of State for Labour and Employment Santosh Kumar Gangwar said.
