New Delhi, December 5
Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari today rued hurdles being faced in road projects across the country. Besides, he assured road safety audit and identification of “black spots” on roads vulnerable to accidents.
Describing the process of land acquisition and environment clearance as major hurdles, the minister told the Lok Sabha that environment and development had to go together and that the country must have a positive approach towards development.
Responding to various questions, Gadkari asked all members to be aware of road projects in their constituencies and help in resolving problems hindering construction of roads and bridges. “The country has to have a positive approach and attitude towards development projects,” he said, adding that an audit would be conducted on mishap reasons. — TNS
