Hyderabad, March 25
Giving a major cause for concern to Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR), over 200 farmers of Telangana have filed their nomination papers from Nizamabad parliamentary constituency to protest the state government’s failure to provide farmers with adequate compensation for their produce.
KCR’s daughter K Kavitha is the sitting MP from Nizamabad and is the official candidate of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS).
Hectic political activity is on to persuade the farmers to withdraw their nominations as the outcome of the poll will be a direct reflection on the functioning of the TRS government that has the support of around 106 legislators in a House of 119. The farmers are demanding higher MSP and setting up of a turmeric board in Nizamabad.
