AHMEDABAD, March 28
The NCP has refused to wait any further for a tie-up with the Congress in Gujarat and has decided to go it alone in the Lok Sabha as well as the Assembly byelections.
Though the two parties are partners in Maharashtra and are loosely supporting the “mahagathbandhan” in various states, they have fallen apart in Gujarat with the NCP today announcing that it would put up its candidates in all 26 LS and five state Assembly segments which will go to the polls with the Parliamentary electiions to fill vacancies created due to resignation by the sitting Congress members who have crossed over to the BJP. — OC
