Gurnaaz Kaur
Sonica Bhardwaj is 26 and already has a lead role for a Punjabi flick in her kitty. Born in Pathankot, she has lived in different states, thanks to her Army background. Modelling and acting have been her first career choice and seven years of effort has paid her. Ramp shows, music videos and now a movie, she seems to be going in the right direction.
How did you get your first assignment?
I had participated in Mr n Ms Supermodel pageant in Chandigarh in 2016. There I got selected for a modelling campaign for L’Oreal.
Which has been the most interesting shoot so far?
For me all my shoots have been fun and interesting in their own way. They are my source of joy.
I have done many ramp shows for different designers from Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Chandigarh. I have modelled in a Punjabi video; it’s a mash-up song of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. Things changed when I got Ammy Virk’s Qismat.
If you had a chance, you would want to walk the ramp for which designer?
I’d love to walk for Sabyasachi Mukherjee.
If not modelling, then....
Cabin crew.
Current favourite style....
Patchwork denims with a sharp formal jacket and heels.
A fashion tip for youngsters....
Wear what you like. Be your own inspiration in style and fashion.
Your daily routine looks like....
I wake up at 8 am and start my day with drinking two glasses of water. Next is exercise followed by breakfast. Then I run errands, go for auditions, work on new monologues, etc. By 8 pm, I cook dinner and eat. After that I watch my favourite shows / videos on acting, around 11pm I pick up a book to read and by 12 lights are out.
In casuals, your pick would be...
Tees with shorts and white shoes.
Healthy snacks you munch on...
A piece of fruit with a handful of nuts. It makes for the perfect snack in my opinion. Fruit provides a balanced amount of healthy carbs and fibre, while nuts provide protein.
To a formal dinner you’ll wear...
I’d wear a cape dress or tube bandeau dress.
Must haves in your wardrobe...
Black and white tees with a pair of blue jeans and white sneakers (sneakers never go out of fashion)
You aspire to be...
I’ve always wanted to be a successful actress and getting selected for a lead role is the first step towards that dream. I want to open an orphanage, do some work for children.
Your favourite model/actor/actress and why...
My favourite actress/model is Sushmita Sen as she is an inspiration in so many ways. She exudes raw sensuality and she has a strong presence. She is a strong, independent woman and single mother of two daughters.
