New Delhi: The BJP has topped the chart of political advertisers on Google with an advertisement spent share of around 32%, while its rival Congress is ranked sixth with a meagre 0.14% share. Political parties and their affiliates have spent Rs 3.76 crore on advertisements since February 19, 2019, according to the internet giant's Indian Transparency Report released on Thursday. BJP spent Rs 1.21 crore and Congress Rs 54,100 on ad expenses on Google. PTI
TN candidate declares Rs 1.76 lakh cr in cash, Rs 4 lakh cr loan
Chennai: Candidate for the byelection to the Perambur Assembly seat in Tamil Nadu, J Mohanraj of the Jebamani Janata party has declared loan dues to the World Bank of Rs 4 lakh crore and cash in hand of Rs 1.76 lakh crore. The Election Commission has accepted Mohanraj's affidavit and allotted him "Green Chilli" poll symbol. "Filing a false affidavit is not a criminal offence. The EC had changed the rules in 2014," said Mohanraj, a retired police officer who has also worked with the CBI. IANS
Women activists take to streets against BJP govt
New Delhi: Women activists, representing diverse campaigns and groups, on Thursday vowed to vote out the Modi government. Under the banner of ‘Women Vote for Change’, they marched from Mandi House to Jantar Mantar against alleged ‘politics of hate, violence and shrinking of spaces’ for dialogue and what they called ‘crackdown on dissent’.
