Kathmandu: Eight Nepalese mountain guides on Tuesday successfully scaled Mount Everest, becoming the season's first team to open the climbing route. They successfully fixed the climbing ropes from South Col to the summit point and scaled the 8,848-metre peak for the other climbers to follow. As many as 378 climbers, part of 41 teams, have obtained permits for Mount Everest this spring season. PTI
The Moon is shrinking, wrinkling: Study
Washington: The Moon is steadily shrinking, causing wrinkling on its surface and quakes, according to an analysis of imagery captured by NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter. A survey of 12,000 images revealed that lunar basin Mare Frigoris near the Moon’s north pole has been cracking and shifting. AFP
