Cong supporter kills man for voting for BJP

Indore, May 20

A Congress supporter shot dead a 60-year-old man accusing him of voting for the BJP here in Madhya Pradesh, the police said.

According to the police, Arun Sharma, who is close to a state minister, on Sunday entered into an argument with salon owner Nemichand Tanwar accusing him of voting for the BJP soon after he had cast his vote at the polling booth in Palia village in Hatod area around 2 pm.

Hurling casteist abuses at Tanwar, Sharma accused his entire community of voting for the saffron party, the police said.

Later in the evening, Sharma arrived at Tanwar’s house and fired at him with a country-made pistol in the presence of his son. Tanwar was critically injured and rushed to the hospital where he was declared brought dead, said Indore SSP Ruchivardhan Mishra.

Announcing a relief of Rs 5 lakh for Tanwar’s family, former MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said: “Such an incident of violence has never happened in MP. Congress workers threatened BJP worker Nemichand Tanwar when he talked about voting for the saffron party and in the evening entered his house and shot him dead.”    He said: “Nemichand’s wife and son critically were injured in trying to save him. Where is Kamal Nath taking the state? The Congress has been working with political vendetta since the time it came to power in the state. False cases are being lodged against the BJP government.”  — IANS
