Maya skips Delhi visit, meets Akhilesh

Lucknow, May 20

Contrary to rumours BSP president Mayawati would meet the Congress top brass in New Delhi today, she met Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav at her residence in Lucknow.

The talks between Mayawati and Akhilesh, who had formed a coalition with the BSP and the RLD to take on the BJP, lasted for almost an hour. Their aides described the meeting as a “review of the current political situation”. They reportedly analysed the seat-wise performance of their candidates. 

The SP chief said, “We will talk after the results on May 23. I maintain my stand that we are winning 56 seats in the state.” Sources said the SP-BSP leaders have decided to hold talks with other Opposition parties on May 24. — TNS
