Inspired by super VFX of Baahubali, filmmaker Aditya Sood thought of doing something similar in Pollywood, only to wake up to the budget constraints. But not the one to give up, he is ready to shoot what is touted to be the most expensive song that Pollywood has ever seen, which is titled – Dograa, which is part of his film Teri Meri Jodi starring Sidhu Moosewala.
Some 400 horses, an action master, choreographer on the sets, to be enhanced with VFX is what’s keeping Aditya occupied and on the edge. “The budget for this one is running into a crore,” he shares sheepishly, yet confident that it’s one risk that’s going to pay off!
Six years post his Punjabi films - Mar Jawan Gur Khake and Oye Hoye Pyar Ho Gaya – Aditya is making a comeback . “I am way mature and surer of cinema and viewers’ expectations this time around,” he shares. This Patiala lad assisted in films in Mumbai before he moved to Canada. Running an event management company and handling film projects in Vancouver, he came back to Pollywood to explore his passion.
“Punjabi film industry is making rapid strides. Like any other industry, this one too works on clouts – teams establishing their territory. I, on the other hand, like to work with fresh talent.” Teri Meri Jodi launches famous Australina Youtubers, Sammy Gill and Nazia (Naaz), King B Chouhan along with Victor Yograj Singh and Monica Sharma.
“These youngsters are talented and enjoy a huge fan following on social media. With this film I want them to reach to a wider audience.”
The film pegged at Rs 4.5 crore is produced under Adityas Films. Looking at the release by July end, he says, “I have little life beyond films and family. When I am not working I am home with my wife and three children. My youngest son was our Christmas miracle last year. I miss having spent any major time with him yet as I am on the move with the film ever since!”
But then after Teri Meri Jodi is completed, he’s all set with comedy horror called Baari Barsi that goes on the floors soon.
My pick
Playing favourites: In the recent ones, I have really enjoyed Anurag Singh’s Punjab1984; my all-time favourites have been Gurdas Maan saab’s Shaheed-E-Mohabbat Boota Singh and Manoj Punj’s Waris Shah.
